Gallery Manager Internship

  • 6 month contract (option for renegotiation/renewal at calendar year change)

  • Approximately 40 hours per month plus special events

  • Compensation: $500 for curating a show with 4-6 artists at the end of contract, plus 10% of all third-party event rentals/fees.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing (40%)

  • Content management for MINT’s presence on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and website (Squarespace)

  • Plan, write and schedule regular content for each platform

  • Act as a customer service agent through social media, answering questions or redirecting questions as they arise

  • Keep up with content and social marketing trends in order to adjust content strategy as needed

  • Maintain online event listings with partner publications

  • Reputation management

  • Train MINT’s intern team on social media goals and priorities

  • Assist with dissemination of press releases, maintain and update press contacts

  • Track and report analytics on campaigns and ad engagement

Operations (40%)

  • Manage both gallery and event calendars

  • Assist in planning of exhibitions with staff

  • Ensure the installation of the works of arts in the exhibition space

  • Arranging for transport and storage (where applicable)

  • Assist Program Director with installation and de-installation of exhibitions

  • Curate (with help from MINT staff) a full group exhibition (2-6 artists)

  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director or Program Director

Event Management (20%) - Commission-based Compensation

  • First point-of-contact for potential space rentals

  • Plan event from start to finish according to requirements

  • Prepare leases and agreements and ensure adherence

  • Source vendors and suppliers where applicable 

  • Coordinate all operations

  • Lead promotional activities for the event

  • Supervise any event staff (event coordinators, caterers etc.) where applicable 

  • Ensure event is completed smoothly and step up to resolve any problems that might occur

SKILLS

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience working in social media and marketing

  • Project management

  • High level of organization and acute attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced setting; strong time-management skills

  • Assertive communication skills to keep projects on schedule

  • Composure, maturity and professionalism

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills

  • Willingness to change direction quickly in the face of changing priorities

  • Team player with a positive attitude
